I'm finally launching a concept called "Steal the Room/Shop the Look" that I have wanted to do forever and am SO excited to tell you guys about it. Over the years, I have had countless friends and people I have met in my life talk about the same design challenges for their home.
At the end of the day, they boil down to a few common issues:
- I know what I like, but I don't know how to put it all together.
- I don't have time to shop through a million stores and websites to get what I want and I don't want to just buy an entire showroom from a "Big Box" store.
- I'm renting/temporarily in this space so I don't want to spend a lot of money but I still want it to feel like home.
- I don't have the money. Or the time. I need the money and the time. And I'm tired just thinking about that, so now I need a nap. (To be fair, most of us fall into this category!)
And last but not least...
5. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IN THE CRAP I AM DOING WHEN IT COMES TO DECORATING SO I HAVE GIVEN UP. Jesus take the wheel. And I can't afford an interior decorator. So I quit. My family and I just, like, go on vacations and stay at boutique hotels when we want to see pretty things.
No matter where you fall on that spectrum, I'm here to help. (No, but seriously- #5's...I'm here for you and we will get through this together. Staycations in your own pretty home are in your near future, my friends.)
So... How can we address all of these issues? Falling short of bringing about health, happiness and world peace for all, we are solving all the world's problems. Well, design-related ones anyway. Reclaimed Goods is now offering services and solutions help address these common decorating dilemmas. We will have a comprehensive and ever-changing selection of home decor and furnishings that you can purchase through our e-commerce store at http://reclaimed-goods.myshopify.com/ And blogging. More blogging. No, but actually this time. I threatened it in the past, but now I'm reallllllly doing it.
However, we have some limitations in all of our dreams and desires since we are small potatoes compared to other retailers out there. As far as shipping goes, we can only ship smaller items. Shipping is a debacle that I could go on about forever. Here's a big high-five and "what's up" to my old UPS rep Mason who I either assisted in getting promoted because he spent more time on the phone with me in 2015 than any other UPS rep in UPS history OR he ran away and went into the witness protection program and changed his name so that he would never have to speak to me again. Either way, props to Mason.
So as far as shipping goes, certain larger pieces will only be offered locally to the Charlottesville, Virginia and surrounding areas. Beyond that, we will be putting rooms together -sometimes bringing the pieces into our own home and styling them here whenever possible- or via Photoshop, and listing all of the sources and prices for each piece. We are trying to make this whole decorating thing easy and take some of the guess work out of it. Or for those of you who do love decorating on your own, we will offer up those perfect pieces to help complete your space!
"STEAL THE ROOM"
So what is "Steal the Room"? Steal the Room will refer to looks that have been put together that can all be purchased as a set and will arrive at your doorstep. An Interior Decorator In-A-Box, essentially. Oftentimes you won't necessarily be able to purchase the individual pieces of the room....or you wouldn't want to, as the total cost to "steal the room" will be much less than the total retail cost of each individual item! To accommodate the various needs of our customers, we will occasionally offer rooms and looks that you can buy the individual pieces for, based on your home's needs.
But wait...THERE'S MORE!
"SHOP THE LOOK"
What is "Shop the Look"? Shop the Look refers to other pieces that I have gathered together that I think would be complimentary to help you complete the space of our "Steal the Room" collections. Sometimes these items can be purchased directly through me and other times they will be through other sources, like Wayfair or IKEA. I will try and touch on the main points of a room that could help complete the space- pillows, curtains, accessories, small furnishings, etc. When I create "Steal The Room" collections that go together you will also be able to find these additional pieces that you can purchase online that match in color or aesthetic with the room we have created. And put each look on its own page to make it super simple and easy to navigate, again taking the guess work out. You won't have to ask "but does this really go with that?" It does. Trust us.
And as a step beyond all of this, I am available for personal consultations for your space. Are you interested in purchasing pieces, through Reclaimed Goods or from another site, but still on the fence about how they will look in your space? Are you trying to find the PERFECT curtains to complete your room but can't quite figure it out? Let's chat. Let's Facetime. Let's text. Have your living room send me some selfies. Let's do this any way that works for you, working around your budget and your schedule. Soooo many ways to do this in this day and age, even if you're across the country! Personal Decor Consultation can even cost as little as a dinner out. It is meant to be approachable, affordable (I will work with YOUR budget!), and fun.
I never want anyone thinking, "Oh, I could never get help from a decorator because I don't have the money and I don't want them to see my current space!" I have heard that before. And that's BANANA PANTS CRAZY TOWN. The whole point of this is for me to provide assistance because your home is in need of it. You don't cut your own hair- you go to a salon for that (I mean, we all chopped our own bangs back in junior high, but that doesn't count). You don't change your own car's oil- you go to a garage for that. So think of decorating in the same way; a service that you pay someone to do. Sure, it's not a requirement to live, just like a haircut. It's a bit of a "luxury" but wouldn't it be pretty spectacular to come home everyday and LOVE the space you're in and not completely break the bank doing it?
For personal consultations, shoot me an email me at CONTACT@RECLAIMEDGOOD.CO (yes, it is .CO not .COM) or give me a call at 267-4838-5884. Questions/collaborations/thoughts are always welcome, as well!
